{BN Real Weddings} Carina and Brett 08.05.2015

Botanica Naturalis is based in Fremantle, Western Australia. And we love our Fremantle Weddings there is just something about them. Its not just that the locations are beautiful and really old, its the weather and the relaxed vibe you get and feel from the Bride and Groom too.

Carina and Brett were married in a simple ceremony at one of our favorite locations Moore and Moore Cafe and Gallery on Henry Street. In May, when the flowers and colors are profuse.

Below are some of the beautiful photos that photographer C.J Williams captured on the day.

Enjoy xx

{BN Real Weddings} Sophie & Allister 21.02.2015

 Botanica Naturalis 2015 Summer/Spring season bought us some of our favorite brides and grooms, this Down South Yallingup Wedding was one of the best of the year.

Staying down in Dunsborough for the whole weekend and helping set up the big day was delightful. Full of sun and flowers we stayed at an old Railway carriage that, we now always stay at for our South West weddings. There is a big wooden porch on the front of the rail carriage, where in the cool of the morning sunrise we sit with kangaroos looking on crafting our bouquets and hair flowers. So peaceful and such a joy.

Allister and Sophie were married in February in Yallingup, 2015.

Botanica Naturalis was there from the beginning. Meeting with Sophie for coffees in our little Wray ave studio Sophie knew what she was designing from the start designing a beautiful theme and color pallet of Summer Corals with Moss green and shades of apricot... with so many ideas refining them was easy and a fun process. With the main focus being on the beautiful colors of flowers from the garden and the different romantic types such as Dahlias, Roses, David Austin Roses, Orange berry, Hypericum berry with seasonal summer Tuber roses & Peppercorn, Gladiolus and a good mix of Native Foliage's to add texture.

The Delivery of the bouquets is Botanica Naturalis' favorite part of the day absolutely, the delight and joy on Sophie's face was priceless.

Setting Up the Ceremony Arbor

This is the biggest natural Stick Arbor structure that Botanica Naturalis has ever made for a ceremony.  A Suspended Archway of large branches and sticks moving across the two trees at the top of the isle with hanging Carnation strings and clusters of Roses, Princess Protea. Measuring more than 5M wide the boys looked so elegant waiting underneath it.

The Ceremony {Yallingup Brook, Caves rd. Yallingup}

When ever I hear Vance Joy sing "She is something to behold ~ Elegant and bold ~She is electricity ~Running to my soul, oh ...And I could easily lose my mind..."

I think of Sophie Bride walking across the lawn at Yallingup Brook. She strolled, head held high with such grace perfectly in time with the music and was something to behold.

After a breath taking ceremony, the licence was signed in the pond side gazebo and then confetti rained!

The Wedding of Fiona and Martin 9th of May 2015

Location: Brookton Winery and The Vinyard Kitchen, Bickley Valley.

The wedding of Fiona and Martin wrapped up Botanica Naturalis' Autumn Wedding season with a happy, glittery, bright and cheerful location wedding that continues to inspire our current brides.

Working with Fiona {and of course Martin.... but mainly Fiona} for a year or so before their actual wedding day saw the combination of Fiona's handmade favorites mixed with her favorite Botanica Bridal ideas and themes of 2014 wedding fairs culminating in a wedding day that really reflected the couples bright and cheery disposition, happiness and their love.

Botanica Naturalis assisted Fiona in her wedding ideas and brought them to life, encouraging her love of glittered embellishments and love of flowers and wishes for an Autumnal theme. Mixing the two families floral loves together by using flowers native to both South Africa for Martin and Fiona's love of native blooms with glitter. Fiona had visited me at most of the bridal fairs before her big day where we chatted ideas. Picking out amber jars with glitter to hang on the hand foraged chairs for her ceremony and an isle of autumn leaves as her first decorations, moving onto a hanging tree arbor and floral swings above the bridal table.

The choice of location, Bickley Valley in the hills of Perth was wonderful. The couple had bought a block of land near by and their family, based in Kalamunda frequently visited the beautiful surrounds of Brookside Winery. Eating Sunday lunch at The Vineside Kitchen located in the old shed at the winery and cellar door, renovated into a stunning venue with old feature doors looking out on the weeping willows inspire and food to warm your heart with its goodness.

The day was beautiful and it is our pleasure at Botanica Naturalis to see our couples happiness play out in the most pretty of locations. Their Joy was truly in the air!

Congratulations to Fiona and Martin.

The Reception that followed this Joyous celebration was held in the beautiful shed-restaurant that is The Vineyard Kitchen. Where the couple Danced the night away under shimmering fairy lights and enjoyed the amazing food served on big rustic platters, and of course Brooksides award winning wines.

Thru the Clearing

SONNET 116
"Let me not to the marriage of true minds
Admit impediments. Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove:
O no; it is an ever-fixed mark,
That looks on tempests, and is never shaken;
It is the star to every wandering bark,
Whose worth's unknown, although his height be taken.
Love's not Time's fool, though rosy lips and cheeks
Within his bending sickle's compass come;
Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,
But bears it out even to the edge of doom.
   If this be error and upon me proved,
   I never writ, nor no man ever loved. "

Thru the Clearing: the Idea.

Styled Shoot: May 2015, Perth.

The wonderful reality of my day to day is working with other creatives to style and make photo shoots come to life. Thru the Clearing was originally a product shoot for my wedding bouquets so that I would have photographic examples of my wedding bouquets to show  brides that were my own.

The more I discussed the ideas I had the more friendly creatives wanted to be involved.

In the end we were so inspired we went back to the woods a day later and re shot in the gorgeous evening light we had found the day before.  As we thought that there was more beauty to be captured.

Most of my creative shoots are inspired by poetry or early fiction as I {geekishly} read a lot of these such novels in school{And still do}. The words of the greats have always inspired me. This photo shoot was already in the making when I came across an old copy of 'Sense and Sensibility' by Jane Austin whilst at a friends home {aka The Vintage Table~ always inspiring}.

There is a sense of waiting. Biding of time... In the woods.

Romance is not dead,

not with such beauty afoot!

And so the story begins...
